My mantra is that every good artist needs to be a decent writer. Being able to communicate ideas visually is an impressive skill, but learning how to explain and present said ideas is equally as important.

Not only do I find writing skills beyond necessary, but I personally love writing. The act of writing, the revisions and search for errors, and reading the final product…it’s all incredible to me. That said, I found that adulthood was not presenting me with as many opportunities for creative writing as I had hoped for.

I didn’t want my definition of “creative writing” to boil down to ‘creatively’ rewriting a professional email to ensure it doesn’t come across as passive-aggressive, so I took it upon myself to find work as a content writer for a local publication. I had the privilege of being a part of SheMade Digital, a women’s empowerment digital magazine. It was so wonderful to participate in such a wonderful environment of strong women who have a similar passion for writing.
